🍂 Fall Allergy Tips 🍂

115

Are you ready for the cooler weather of fall? The lower temperatures can make breathing easier for individuals with COPD and asthma, but it brings its own challenges.

1. One of the main culprits? Mold and mildew. When the leaves fall from the trees mold can grow on the underside of the leaves. To lessen the effects of the mold and mildew, when doing yard work, wearing an N95 mask can help.

2. Ragweed is one of the greatest problems with fall pollen, causing itchy eyes, scratchy throat and a runny nose.

3. Inside the house, when you turn on your furnace, the dust, pet dander, and insect droppings get stirred up creating problems as well. Having a company come in to clean your duct work prior to turning on the furnace can be a huge benefit to someone with respiratory issues.

People with fall allergies know they are going to face them every year. One key to keeping them in check is beginning a medication regime prior to the signs and symptoms starting. Remember to always check with your physician before starting any medications (even over the counter, to avoid medication interactions).

Happy fall y’all! 🍁
